The left-hand bold column is the accelerated pathway for students taking Earth Science Honors in 8th grade. Accelerated students are strongly encouraged to simultaneously enroll in the Advanced Research Program, which may culminate in the Capstone Diploma.
The second column of courses is the Regents pathway for students taking 8th Grade Science. Students are strongly encouraged to take at least four laboratory sciences before graduation, namely Living Environment, Earth Science, Chemistry, and Physics. Many colleges recommend three to four laboratory sciences as admission guidelines, and these four Regents-level courses will fulfill these requirements.
As students enter their Junior and Senior years, additional elective spaces are generally available for all students. Colleges are looking for students to take challenging courses in their full schedules for the full four years of their high school careers. Students should consider taking an AP or Dual-College Credit (honors-weighted) elective coursework in those elective spaces!
